Ancient Cities

Exploring history through ancient cities

Cusco: The Inca City

Cusco, the Inca city has such a rich history. Formed in the shaped on a lion that represented  a deity, Cusco was once home to the Inca tribe.

Cusco was said to have narrow streets. It’s walls were made of carved stones or sun-dried brick. The old houses had roofs of straw, with few doors and windows. Rivers flowing through the city supplied it with water.

The Inca’s were known for their rituals, so it is no surprise that the city had a ceremonial sector and a clelebration sector. These parts were made with stone labs, maybe in an effort to avoid the nuance of the rainy season.

There is so much to see in this ancient city. One is really able to understand the culture of the Incas because of its structure. Cusco holds the many secrets of one of the most fascinating, and once most powerful civilizations on the planet.
